Port of Fort Pierce Master Plan: Megayacht Marina, Spaceport and Your Property Value
By Bridgette A. Daley • October 30, 2026

Fort Pierce is not shy about big ideas. In August 2026, St. Lucie County commissioners reviewed a plan that includes a megayacht marina, new boat ramps and a spaceport recovery facility.
Yes, spaceport. Let that sink in. Then let's separate the headline from the paperwork.
What the 2026 Master Plan Proposes
The plan covers the Port of Fort Pierce and areas around the causeway. Commissioners reviewed it on a Tuesday in August, and county officials described it as a multi-year effort. It remains under county review. Final approval authority rests with Fort Pierce city officials.
1. Harbour Pointe and the boat ramps.
The centerpiece is a redevelopment of Harbour Pointe to create the Treasure Coast's largest boat ramp facility. Commissioner James Clasby said it would nearly double boat ramp parking capacity. County data cited at the meeting shows nearly 15,000 registered boats competing for 147 boat trailer parking spaces within three miles of the Fort Pierce Inlet. The area would also include restaurants, an amphitheatre, an education center and a living shoreline.
2. A spaceport recovery facility.
The plan proposes a facility to support commercial space operations, building on Florida's aerospace sector. County port director Joshua Revord framed the logic this way: "In Canaveral there's limited space for space." The facility would come with infrastructure upgrades that also support the port's existing yacht industry.
3. A megayacht marina at Museum Pointe.
This is the controversial piece. Renderings shown to commissioners put a megayacht marina and clubhouse on the Museum Pointe waterfront park. A resident told commissioners he did not want to lose the water view and picnic area.
What Is Not Decided
This is a master plan. It is a roadmap, not a building permit. Commissioner Clasby acknowledged public confusion about what the plan is and is not. Officials said displacing the history center was never intended. It would either be incorporated into new development or relocated appropriately. No construction schedule for the marina or spaceport facility appeared in the coverage I reviewed.
If someone tells you a megayacht marina is breaking ground next quarter, ask for the approval record.
How This Connects to Derecktor
The port already hosts a megayacht refit yard. Derecktor Fort Pierce won its long-term lease in 2019 and built a 1,500-ton hoist to haul yachts up to 250 feet. The master plan's yacht and marine elements build on that foundation.
What It Could Mean for Real Estate
Public waterfront improvements such as boat ramps, parks and restaurants tend to raise a district's profile. Whether that lifts prices on a specific street is a property-by-property question. With boat ramp parking in short supply, homes with dock access or trailer storage may appeal to local boaters.
A spaceport recovery facility, if built, would be a new type of demand for port-adjacent land and services. That remains speculative until the plan is approved and funded. Larger boat ramps and event spaces can mean more traffic — visit on a busy weekend before you buy nearby.
